SmartWay Finance Center Introduction

The purpose of this web site, SmartWay Finance Center, is to assist the trucking industry with the purchase of fuel savings and emissions reducing vehicles and technologies. This web site works by bringing interested buyers and lenders together in one place. The interested truck or truck equipment buyer submits an application for an approved vehicle or technology, and interested lenders submit loan or lease offers to the applicant. The applicant decides which lenders he/she wants to work with, and both applicant and lender discuss the specific terms and conditions of each loan or lease.

The loans and leases on this web site are only for U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, SmartWay Transport Partnership certified vehicles and/or approved technologies. EPA’s SmartWay program has evaluated these vehicles and technologies and finds that, when used for their intended use, will result in fuel savings and emissions reductions.

The application process consists of four parts. The first three parts should take you less than five minutes to complete. Once you complete these three parts you have completed the Pre-Qualification form. You can stop here and see which lenders are interested in you, or you can go on to the fourth part. The fourth part is a longer, general bank application, and if you fill this out you will have a much greater likelihood of receiving lender offers.

The lenders participating on this web site are private lenders. The loans or leases offered here are not from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). EPA and its contractor, IBank, provide this web site as a service to the trucking industry for the purchase of vehicles and technologies that conserve fuel and reduce emissions. When working with private lenders you should be careful about authorizing multiple checks of your credit. If you decide to work with a lender on a loan or lease for an approved vehicle or technology, the loan or lease represents a private transaction between the applicant and the lender.
